Water Pollution In Banasree Rampura Khal

Banasree canal in the capital has virtually turned into a dumping ground for garbage disposed of by nearby households and traders of Meradia Bazar. Due to mindless dumping of waste materials into the canal from its Rampura Bridge to Meradia Bazar point, the water body becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes while its heavily polluted water spreads bad odour.

 Reason Behind Pollution:
  • Mismanagement Of land
  • Authority does not care about waste dumping.
  • People of this area hardly use the dustbins.
  •  The cleaners do not come to clean the dustbins regularly
Pollution Remediation:
  • As part of keeping the canal side and canal water clean and hygienic, some local voluntary organisations have been carrying out various campaigns in the area
  •  Some posters and placards are displayed on the canal side with various social-friendly slogans.

  • A placard asks people not to dump wastes into the canal area
